It was suppose to be a celebration of, the 50th Anniversary of The March On Washington, but it was turned into a bash on today’s rap music. Fox News is worldly known for being controversial with their beliefs dated back to the 1800s, but now their comparing music of the 60s to today’s rap. Hit the jump for the details.
Coming in from a segment on the 50th Anniversary of The March on Washington, anchor woman, Shannon Bream announced Bob Dylan’s 1963 hit “Blowin’ in the Wind,” and goes into comparing it’s uplifting lyrics to the 2013 rap songs. Assisting her in the bash is, Jehmu Greene who calls Jay Z’s lyrics, “despicable…filled with misogyny, and talks of certain parts of the black community.”
It’s been a while since the, “sweet music of the march on Washington” was heard, adds Bream.
Here goes Fox News…voicing their opinion is one thing, but whether agreed with or not, rap is a culture, and a freedom of expression. It’s up to listeners of ANY genre to decipher the words and do with them as they please, which is why rap has a bad name. Why is rap music always under the microscope?!
