No I.D., the creator of Big Sean’s “Control” beat, actually had someone else in mind when first making the beat. Click the jump to see who it was!
In an Interview with Complex Magazine, No I.D., the producer behind Big Sean’s “Control” reveals that he originally meant for the track to be for Jay Z. He says, “I had this beat, I had actually done it for Jay, right before I let [Sean] hear it. I said, ‘You should take this beat. I think it would be great for you to show up on one of these beats. Forget money. Forget everything.” Even though, “Control” does not actually end up on Big Sean’s Hall Of Fame album, it was leaked and was immediately popular (a big portion of the popularity due to Kendrick Lamar’s verse). No I.D. also explains his involvement on Hall Of Fame by saying, “I had a conversation with Big Sean towards the end of his album, I told him I felt like he needed to do some straight, hardcore Hip Hop records. Sometimes we focus so much on selling records that we leave some artistic points uncovered,”. Grab Hall Of Fame in stores and online now!
