Yesterday Brooklyn commuters may have noticed a slight 90 minute to 2 hour delay on the Q and B line… well the cause of it all was quite cute, no really! Hit the jump to see the furry little felines held responsible for the disruption of these subway lines!
Im sure commuters were enraged when the B and Q lines were delayed due to a serious situation! But as soon as you see the culprits that can be blamed for the setbacks those frowns will turn upside down.
Two kittens decided to take their playful ways into the railroad tracks, chasing each other on the rails at the Church Avenue station in Ditmas Park. The kittens had began their antics around 11:OO am, MTA officials resulted in cutting the electricity on a large portion of the line, in order to protect the kittens from being crushed by the Manhattan bound train.
“The Q was down for two hours, and the B was without service for 90 minutes — enraging commuters who were sent back to Coney Island”
Witnesses began to show their frustrations as they reported:
“My boss is gonna be mad at me for being late. He’s not gonna believe this one!” said one rider, who declined to give her name.
“Can you believe this? All for goddamned cats! I hate cats!” another straphanger hissed.
Yet, Russell Johnson, 60, was more worried about the furballs’ safety more than anything else.
“I just hope it doesn’t touch the third rail,” said Johnson, who was on his way to work in Kensington. “I love cats. I hope they rescue it.”
The trains began running again between 12:3-1:15, yet one of the kittens had gone back to play within the dangerous tracks by 1:30 after services had been restored. The grey fur ball found his mate and decided to take a cat nap under a third rail. Rescuers and transit police officials were finally able to capture the two by 6:30 pm by trapping them within a milk crate.
“All in a day’s work,” MTA worker Nathaniel Howard joked. “You never know from one day to the next.”
