Officials reported that a gunman opened fire outside of a North Carolina High School this afternoon, resulting in one shot hitting a fifteen year old student in the neck, Hit the jump for more details!
Carver High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina experienced a horrific school shooting around 2:30 this afternoon, just minutes before students would be let go to enjoy their labor day weekend! A gunman was reported to have began firing outside of the high school during the end of a scheduled fire drill! One witness stated that they heard four or five shots being fired. 30-60 police officials responded to the critical situation, taking down a suspect in custody.
WXII reports that at least one student has been taken to the N.C. Baptist Hospital after being shot in the neck by the culprit. Although critically injured the male student remained responsive and conscious through out the catastrophe, and is expected to survive.
The 700 students that filled the North Carolina High School this afternoon had been kept under lock down even after the event in order to preserve evidence officials stated.They were later transferred to another building where they were released to parents after being patted down by officials. Officials are further investigating for more details on the event.
