A prison in eastern Bolivia endured a huge bloodshed amongst rival gangs within the prison, resulting in the deaths of many, hit the jump for more detail!
An eastern Bolivian prison experienced a massive brawl amongst rival gang members resulting in the deaths of at least 30. Two groups declared that many of the deaths were due to being burned.
Witnesses stated that propane gas tanks were used as flame throwers by the inmates.
“60 people were also hurt in the melee in the Palmasola prison near Santa Cruz, according to the two groups, the national ombudsman’s office and the local chapter of Bolivia’s independent Permanent Assembly for Human Rights”
Police chief, Alberto Aracena, provided the Interior Ministry with an update of the now 30 deaths and believes that a child is amongst them.
“The United Nations complained to Bolivia two months ago about its policy of allowing some children to live with parents in prisons”
