Officials are currently investigating the cause of a fire that set upon a Staten Island home Friday evening. The owner of the two story home is a hoarder, officials stated as they rescued 68 dogs from the burning house.
The owner had kept the dogs in her house as well as a yard next to their house. She is known to hoard small dogs and trash.
Richard Gentles of Animal Care & Control of NYC says the dogs were removed to a shelter. He says a medical team is evaluating them and caring for them.
No injuries were reported.
