The Assumption Parish Sink Hole can be accredited for taking down a large amount of tall cyprus trees wednesday evening. The Sink hole is suspected of being 25 acres and this incident is not a new one for residents within the Bayou Corne and Grand Bayou communities.
The video taken by a parish official showed the trees slowly swaying then become slant then rapidly being sucked into the sink hole and disappearing! The power within the sink hole is shown as the trees disappear within a minute and everything goes back to normal by the 3 minute mark.
The sink holes have been increasing since fall 2012 and officials have accredited it to the “suspected result of a salt dome cavern failure deep underground months before”
