American Idol is slowly filling their judges panel for season 13, with Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban holding spots 1 and 2. Spot 3 remains vacant as of now…but apparently, Fox execs were hoping to fill it with none other than Kanye West! Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately…), the new father turned it down.

“He didn’t want to go that mainstream,” a source said. “He didn’t want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down.” But….nevermind. Smh.

The source adds that the execs also met with will.i.am, Diddy and Rodney Jerkins to discuss the position, but it looks like spot 3 will ultimately be going to producer Dr. Luke.
