The popular Steve Jobs movie staring Aston Kutcher was expected to do well but ended up 7th this weekend making $6.7 million and “Kick-Ass 2” landed in fourth place making $13.7 Million. ouch check out what a distribution exec had to say about why the butler did so well this weekend.
Erik Lomis, president of distribution and home entertainment for Weinstein Co., credited Winfrey for the success of the flick about a White House butler. “The Butler” also benefitted from the lack of similar movies in theaters. “It’s different from pretty much everything else in the marketplace,” Lomis added. “That really seemed to help.”
