IFWT Fred Davis

Well it’s begun.  NFL commissioner Roger Goodell levied a new set of rules regulating touchdown celebrations.  Basically you can’t show any action that would display happiness, well done… (sarcasm).  The first casualty of the new rules was Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis.  Read more after the jump.

During the Redskins preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans, Davis scored a touchdown on a pass from quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Davis, whose celebration consisted of shaking, falling to the ground and then shaking some more, said after the game that he shouldn’t have celebrated the way he did.

“I just spazzed out. It was dumb,” Davis said. “I’m definitely going to come up with a better plan next time.”

Davis received a penalty and a fine for $7,875 for excessive celebration and what the league deemed unsportsmanlike conduct.
