This summer has everyone blasting Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines.’ In fact, it’s entering it’s tenth week at number 1 on the Billboard Top 100. In light of this record’s success, we all know that it’s much easier to reach when someones on the top. To prevent the reaching, and also to prevent a lawsuit, Robin Thicke, Pharrell, and T.I. all play “trouble man” to protect their interests by putting it all on paper and filing first. After the jump, you can take a look at the lawsuit and also determine if the songs in question sound too much alike.
Marvin Gaye’s family has been claiming that Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ sounds too much like Gaye’s ‘Got To Give It Up.’ Not only that, but Bridgeport Music, who claims to have the entire Funkadelic sound being there’s is also included. In order to prevent them from taking legal action, Thicke, Williams, and Harris who have “the utmost respect for and admiration of Marvin Gaye, Funkadelic and their musical legacies must reluctantly file this action in the face of multiple adverse claims from alleged successors in interest to those artists.”
