In their ongoing effort to remain competitive with Twitter, Facebook is making plans for a new “VIP” feature to allow celebrities to better interact with their fans. Facebook reps told the Wall Street Journal that they are testing “some mobile features designed to help public figures interact with their fans.” What exactly will these new features look like? Allegedly, the new features will be rolled out in a special VIP app that will be accessible only to famous people (or their handlers), already released to a select few famous folks. It’s set to include the ability to monitor Facebook chatter about the celeb all from a mobile device, allowing stars to to quickly join the conversation. This is part of a larger war Facebook is waging against Twitter, which already caters to celebrities with verified accounts.
