NBC has recently purchased Stringwire, a web service, with the intention of allowing viewers like you and I to stream live video from a phone directly to a control room and BAM it readily being available for all the world to see. NBC sees this as the perfect innovation since realistically we all have our phones on us at all times and it would come in handy for coverage on something like a protest or the bombings in Boston.
Don’t think you need to download an app, its as easy as tweeting that you witnessed or are witnessing a particular news event and you will receive a Twitter reply from a String-wire linked account that will supply you with a link. The link will direct you to a camera and you will have the ability to live stream whatever it is you are seeing. NBC assures that nothing inappropriate will be aired for they over see all videos before being formally published.
