An officer from an Arizona jail was shot dead in front of his home as he was getting ready to head to work. The victim, 27-year-old Jorge Vargas, was an 8 year veteran, father and husband. He was killed in uniform. In response to the tragic death of Vargas, his boss, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Joe Arpaio, bought the entire department a special gift. Check it out after the jump.
Arpaio decided to buy AR-15’s for the entire department and alerted his crew to carry a loaded weapon at all times. He stated that the rifles will keep his officers safe when confronted with more firepower in the hands of criminals. He apparently purchased the weapons with money seized during arrests.
