Amongst the global travel alert that was placed Friday, the closing of several U.S embassies in other countries will also be closing for up to a week. The state department in Washington stated that this was in order to continue to enforce caution not because of any new threats.

Twenty-one U.S embassies closed Sunday including many in Africa and the Middle east. Those in the Middle-East include: missions in Algiers, Kabul and Baghdad yet are presumed to reopen on Monday, Washington stated. Although travel alerts will remain until the end of August.

The start of all of this began when the state department was thought to of “intercepted” Al-Qaeda messages that are “suggested” to be between senior figures looking to plot against an embassy.

“Current information suggests that Al-Qaeda and affiliated organisations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August.”

The alert places an emphasis on forms of public transportation as well as tourist infrastructure. The UK has also joined the U.S in taking precautions closing their mission in Yemen, placing a stop to travels within the area and urging British nationals to leave.
