Quarterback Mark Sanchez isn’t exactly popular amongst Jets fans, in fact he isn’t very popular amongst his team period as there’s been plenty of anonymous quotes speaking out against him.  One person in his corner however is Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who spoke up for his controversial QB.  Read more after the jump.

The embattled quarterback heard his all-too-familiar theme music during the Jets’ Green & White scrimmage Saturday night. The jeers followed Sanchez throwing an interception to Antonio Cromartie. Earlier in the scrimmage the quarterback tripped over his own feet and fell on his backside. Beat writers, of course, immediately labeled it the “Butt Stumble,” harkening back to the “Butt Fumble.”

“I think that’s bullcrap,” Cromartie said, defending Sanchez after the scrimmage, per the New York Daily News. “My thing is, if you’re going to be a fan, be a fan. You don’t come out here and boo anybody.”

Unfortunately fans have the right to boo and you can’t stop them.  Unlike Cromartie, Sanchez actually handled it pretty well as he’s done with the previous criticism.  He’s holding up as fans watch and wait for Geno Smith to be good enough to replace him as they waited to be saved by Tim Tebow.  Well we all saw how that worked out and I’m sure Jets fans are hoping it won’t be a repeat.
