In the aftermath of the insensitive racial comments said by Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper, many of his teammates who have known him have moved on. They made it clear they were offended by him using the “N word”, but they have accepted his sincere apologies and are trying to move forward with him as their teammate. The only player to publicly come out and not just say the politically correct thing is running back LeSean McCoy. He spoke his true feelings about the situation, and you definitely can not blame him for doing so. Hit the jump to see more about what he said.

LeSean McCoy said he does in fact forgive Cooper for his remarks, but the friendship he had with him will pretty much end there. In a statement, McCoy said “I forgive him. We’ve been friends for a long time, but in a situation like this, you really find out about someone. Just on a friendship level, I can’t really respect someone like that.” He went on to say their is nothing Cooper can do to change his mind. “Ain’t nothing to prove. He said how he felt. He’s still a teammate. I’m still going to block for him. I’m still gonna show great effort. Just on a friendship level, and as a person, I can’t really respect somebody like that. I think as a team, we need to move past it. There are some things that are going to be hard to work with, to be honest.” To be honest, what McCoy is saying, is probably the true feelings of some of the other players on the team, they just chose not to be so honest and direct about it for the sake of the team. This is one of those extremely sensitive issues that could divide a team that is trying to start fresh with a new coach and new system. Coach Chip Kelly has also admitted he is concerned about what this could to do team morale, but he is hoping they can work together to get through it.
