Google recently released the next generation of their Nexus 7 and everyone is waiting on Apple to update both the regular size iPad and the iPad Mini. In all of the news surrounding both companies lately, Amazon’s tablet offerings have been slept on…but not for long. Click through the jump for the details on the upcoming Kindle Fire tablets, which should be blazing fast.
Amazon’s current Kindle Fire, priced at $199, is a total steal, and if the coming update’s leaked specs prove true, the next version will be an insane bargain. The 7-inch Kindle Fire HD will have a super high-resolution 1,920 x 1,200 pixel display and a new design, along with being powered by a new quad-core processor – that’s four CPUs on a single chip. The new design will also feature 2 GB of RAM, a front-facing camera, Wi-Fi and cellular data connectivity.
Amazon will also unveil a larger 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD, slated to be similar in performance to the smaller, 7-inch tablet but with a larger, 2,560 x 1,600 pixel HD display, along with an 8-megapixel rear camera. If Amazon’s tablets are hot enough to live up to their name, Apple and Google better watch their backs. There’s about to be some serious competition in the tablet market as everyone seems to be stepping their game up.
