It’s actually disgusting to think that people are being over worked and abused at the expense of our Apple products. What’s even more mind boggling to me is that people are more preoccupied over the fact that these people are really making the low budget iPhone rather than the fact that their basically being abused of their labor rights for making it. Workers are working 7 days with no days off during busy seasons (new product releases). Many workers are forced to stand their entire shift, and when the factory is busy employees often work 126 hours of overtime per month (3.5 times the legal overtime limit). Besides the fact that they are breaking labor violations there is also a tremendous amount of discrimination going on. If you have funky hair, are pregnant, over the age of 35, have a tattoo, or under 5 feet you are not getting hired. Apple said this in their official statement, “We strive to make each day at Pegatron better than the last for our employees. They are the heart of our business. That’s why we take these allegations very seriously. We will investigate them fully and take immediate actions to correct any violations to Chinese labor laws and our own code of conduct.”
