Across the country, FBI agents have been rounding up suspected Pimps and saving victims of under aged prostitutes. Underage prostitutes that were known to work venues such as the Super Bowl, NCAA play-offs and tourist hotspots. Known as “Operation Cross Country 6,” more than 2,500 state and federal workers swept 76 cities.
Just about every major city that has at least one professional sports team is included among the 76 cities that are caught up in the prostitution ring. What’s ironic is that Detroit, the city that has recently filed for bankruptcy, has brought in the most pimps with 18.
According to USA Today:
Assistant FBI Director Ron Hosko, head of the bureau’s criminal division, said the children ranged from 13 to 17 years old. The youngest of the victims was allegedly being offered up by her father, who also was allegedly involved in videotaping his daughter’s sexual encounters.
“We have victims whose new normal is sexual abuse,” Hosko said. “We are trying to take this crime out of the shadows and put a spotlight on it.”
It’s reported that the children were targeted and recruited from foster care or group homes. They would then be offered up on Internet sites, at truck stops, casinos and street corners.
