In June Grant Hill announced his retirement after a 19 year career in the NBA.  So what’s next for the former baller?!  He’s in negotiations to do broadcasting next season. Makes sense to me and I think he’d be great at it.  What do you think of Grant Hill as a basketball analyst?!  Details after the jump…

Hill, who starred at Duke and later with the Magic, says he’s considering working as a basketball analyst for one of the major networks, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The most natural and likely fit is TNT, where he made his retirement announcement. But Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley, despite constant speculation they may depart, aren’t expected to go anywhere. Shaquille O’Neal may clutter up the set and have too big a personality for the show (though he was much better last season in his second year in), but he’s on contract and is too big a name not to use. And Chris Webber remains the show’s secret weapon, infrequently used but frequently lauded when deployed.

ESPN has made several changes to its show over the past two years, but seems to have settled on the Magic Johnson-Jalen Rose-Michael Wilbon-Bill Simmons quartet. So wherever Hill goes, he’s either replacing someone and making waves, or it might be in a lesser capacity, at least until he gets some experience. Both networks have the capacity to ease him in, whether on SportsCenter and NBATV.

He is in negotiations to be a broadcaster, something he told the IMG Academy Web site:

But I’m very excited about the next phase and some broadcasting things I’m looking at some things that we’re working on right now with some of the major networks, so that is something that can keep you in and around the game and around sports. I have a family office in Orlando, and we do a number of things – multi-family apartments, commercial real estate and we’ve been doing that for a while. Then I’m a partner in a fund; we have a mezzanine fund that invests in small businesses and raised a good amount of money. So there’s some things in the business world, some things in sports. I look forward to being more active in the political process, fundraisers and things like that.
