Click the jump to see what new water purification system could have you drinking toilet water!
The Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center in Santa Clara County in California produces 8 million gallons of clean water a day. The catch? It’s recycled water from the sewage system! Since fresh water has always been hard to find during drought years the Santa Clara Water District has found a way to purify sewage water and use it for fire hydrants, landscaping and electrical fountains. What’s next on that table? Use this recycled water for drinking water! Marty Grimes of the Santa Clara Valley Water District says that water can be purified to a level that makes it cleaner than the water we are already drinking but due to an outburst from the public, the water will remain out of our mouths…for now!
