After the horrible accident that left two missing and many injured , officials have found the body of a woman floating a drift without a life jacket, not far from the bridge. Although they have not confirmed the identification of the body, it is presumed to be the bride to be
Authorities believe that alcohol intoxication played a big factor in the boat accident that occurred friday night leaving Piermont, NY. The boat heading to Tarrytown was led by, Jojo K. John, 35, of Nyack,whom was also amongst those injured. He was charged with a “felony count of vehicular manslaughter and three felony counts of second-degree vehicular assault” and is being held on a $250,000 bail. The crash also caused for the attention of the safety of those engaging in recreational boating. Boaters have previously complained about the lighting on the barge, yet authorities assured them there was proper lighting.
“The barge had some lights on it,” Van Cura said. “Whether or not it was properly lighted is part of the investigation.”
The lighting on the barge was immediately changed and brightened after the crash occurred, according to state officials.Hopefully they are able to lower the risk of this happening again.
