The Cannes Island is known for its beauty and also for the flocks of celebrities that visit the island for its social events. The Cannes Island have been hit with high profile thefts this year including two during the annual film festival held in May. Though, this was one of the largest thefts! The thief had entered a jewelry exhibition held in the lobby of the Carlton Hotel, in the French Riviera of Cannes. The armed gunman escaped the exhibition with the jewels in his briefcase.
“A Cannes police spokesman said: “A full an urgent operation is under way to catch the culprit and recover these jewels. Thieves see Cannes as rich pickings.”
