Obama is looking to see whether the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline will pollute the air. The decision relies on a number of factor but the biggest being whether or not the project would produce high levels of carbon monoxide within the atmosphere. Obama has stated in an interview with the NY Times:

“Republicans have said that this would be a big jobs generator,” “There is no evidence that that’s true. The most realistic estimates are this might create maybe 2,000 jobs during the construction of the pipeline, which might take a year or two, and then after that we’re talking about somewhere between 50 and 100 jobs in an economy of 150 million working people.”

The president continued to make valid points through out his comments about the pipeline project. He continued clearing more myths, including another that claimed that the project would be decreasing gas prices, which is false. Above all of the circumstances going against the pipe line project that would carry oil from Canada to the Gulf coast, Obama has a big decision to make.
