I think it is safe to say the Andrew Bynum experiment in Philadelphia was a complete disaster for the team. They gave up Andre Iguodala, who at the time was probably their best player, to get Bynum. When the 76ers roster was put together on paper with Bynum, they actually looked like a pretty decent team. However an entire season passed and Bynum never played one single minute with the team. Not only that, but he seemed to not even care about it either. It sounds like 76ers CEO Scott O’Neil noticed as well. Hit the jump to see the apology he gave to all fans of the team.

Here is the apology 76ers CEO Scott O’Neil said to all fans:
“I apologize on behalf of the Sixers to any fan who invested and thought Bynum was going to be their guy and be the savior,” said O’Neil, while being a guest on Cataldi’s radio show. “At the end of the day that’s our apology to every fan – not just to you [he told Cataldi]. “However, we are going to take some chances when we can take some chances. And sometimes, they’re not going to work. And sometimes, they are. When they don’t work, we are not going to ever talk about a player negatively. That’s not going to help us or the franchise or the fans. That’s not going to help us recruit. It doesn’t help us go out and grab free agents. It doesn’t help us when we are evaluating talent. It doesn’t help us when we are talking to coaches. It just doesn’t help.”
I do feel bad for the 76ers. They were in position to be a competitive team, and instead now they are just another doormat in the eastern conference. They do have some good young players, who in time could wind up being a good team, but it looks like it will take at least a few seasons.
