A mother from California allegedly put shackles on her 10-year-old son to keep him out of trouble… But now the mother is in trouble.
37-year-old, Irma Navarro was arrested after neighbors found Navarro’s son outside crying in shackles. She will be facing charges of child abuse, and her bail is set for $100,000. The mother told law enforcement that she shackled him up before she went out because she was afraid of her son getting involved in gangs.
A neighbor told ABC, “He was on the ground and could definitely see a lot of fear in him, and he was crying. He had chains around his ankles. I even noticed his pants when they were on, it looked like one pant leg.”
Navarro is a single mother of three, and all three of her children were taken by child protective services.
