Queen Bey sheds light on the current struggles that Detroit is experiencing by performing and dedicating her rendition of ‘A Change Is Gunna Come’ to the City. Read more after jump
As Beyonce continues to travel the world in light of her new tour, “The Mrs. Carter Tour”, she decided to do something special for concert goers at her Detroit show. Bey assured the residents of Detroit that they were in her thoughts as she performed her version of the Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gunna Come”. The song includes lyrics expressing hope during hardships such as:
“There were times when I thought I couldn’t last for long
But now I think I’m able to carry on
It’s been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gone come, oh yes it will”
Her performance included pictures displayed in the background, paying homage to the city including historic events, figures and artists such as Aretha Frankiln down to Eminem.
