Coroners declared that Ye Meng Yuan, a 16 year old student who had been in the Asiana plane crash had survived the ordeal. Covered with mass amounts of foam that firefighters used to tame the fire she had survived, yet due to her being smothered with this foam, firefighter’s could not see her and accidentally hit the young teen. The plane crash took place earlier this month in California, had taken the lives of two other young girls. The parents of the victim were mourning her passing, and after hearing of the new causes of their only child’s death, became even more upset. Fire officials became very apologetic as well as confused because many had never heard of a situation like this occurring.
“This is very rare. I’ve never heard of it before. I’m not aware of any other similar incident in my 35 years in the fire service,” said Ken Willette, a division manager for the National Fire Protection Agency, which sets national standards for training airfield firefighters”.
