On Thursday the Brooklyn Nets revealed their latest additions, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry. The trade with the Boston Celtics vamped up the new look Nets but it came at a price. Read more after the jump.
The Nets not only added Garnett, Pierce and Terry, they also added Andrei Kirilenko to their stacked roster joining Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez. This roster of course didn’t come cheap and Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov will pay an NBA-record $184 million for his roster this season: $101 million in payroll and $83 million in projected luxury taxes.
Paying that much money just a playoff appearance isn’t enough, Prokhorov wants a championship. “I’ll be proud when we win the championship. I’m not a man of procedure, I am a man of results,” Prokhorov said. “We need a championship team.” Everyone knows they’ll have to get through the two-time championship Miami Heat team but things will definitely be interesting this year.
