A man in a wheelchair set off a homemade bomb in Beijing Airport on Saturday, July, 20th. The explosion rocked a terminal, but the bomb only injured the man who set it off.
No flights were affected by the explosion at Beijing Capital International Airport. The bomb was set off by a Chinese man in a wheelchair around 6:24 p. m., local time. The explosion took place outside the arrivals exit of Terminal 3, and witnesses say that no one was around when the man set off the bomb.
One witness who was about 65 yards away said, “It sound like the sound of big firecrackers. We couldn’t really see what happened afterward. There was a lot of smoke and police arrived very fast.”
The man who set off the bomb was identified as Ji Zhongxing, born in 1979, and it wasn’t clear as to why he set off the bomb.
