In response to the controversial cover of the latest Rolling Stone magazine, Sgt. Sean Murphy with the Massachusetts State Police released photos of the April 19th take down of bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Unhappy with the portrayal of Tsarnaev, Sgt. Murphy put his job on the line to show that “this was real.”

Murphy told Boston magazine, “I hope that the people who see these images will know that this was real. It was as real as it gets. This may have played out as a television show, but this was not a television show.” Later saying, “This guy is evil. This is the real Boston bomber. Not someone fluffed and buffed for the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.”

According to Boston Magazine editor John Wolfson, “Murphy was relieved of his duties late Thursday evening and has been ordered not to speak to anyone in the media over the Watertown investigation. [However] he has not been fired, but is awaiting a duty hearing next week.”
