The Houston Rockets held a press conference to introduce their new star center Dwight Howard. He revealed his new nickname and expectations for his new home. Read more after the jump.
“It means a lot to me just to have a fresh start and have an opportunity to write my own story,” Howard said. “I don’t think people understood the fact that I got traded to L.A., and now I had a chance to really choose my own destiny, and this is the place where I chose and I’m happy about it.”
Though they have a nice young squad, Howard was sure to reiterate that it would take work to win a championship and he wasn’t making promises.
via CNN/Turner Sports reporter Rachel Nichols:
“I’m not going to get up here & say we’re going to win 5 championships, I’m not going to do that,” Howard said. But I think if we really dedicate ourselves & sacrifice everything, at the end of the season we should be holding up a trophy”
You may remember Lebron’s infamous not 1, not 2, not 3 etc. championship promise upon his arrival in Miami. Dwight was sure to not make that kind of promise but is optimistic.
