Is Gossip that sought-after that it’s worth risking your job? Well, it seems to be that way at LA’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Apparently, 6 people were fired after word got out that 14 patient medical records were ‘inappropriately accessed.”
In a recent statement, Cedars-Sinai officials conveyed that 14 patient records were “inappropriately accessed” between June 18 and June 24. And, as the world pretty much knows, North West had arrived just before the breach. Out of the six people fired over the breach: four were actual employees who have –or now had– medical staff privileges at the hospital, while one was just a medical assistant employed by Cedars-Sinai. Ironically, one was an unpaid student research assistant… who now, just lost a potential job.
As per LA Times, “as a result of the incident, the hospital said it is providing more privacy training to physicians and adding extra “safeguards and redundancies” to the computer system’s security.”
