In light of the charges against Aaron Hernandez, the New England Patriots held a trade-in program. The Patriots have done everything in their power to distance themselves from Hernandez and this trade -in was the latest. Fans were able to bring in their Hernandez jersey’s and receive another one of their choice. Read more after the jump.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, more than 500 jersey’s were returned by 11 a.m. just 90 minutes after the program opened.
According to the Patriots by 5 p.m., the New England Patriots Pro Shop received nearly 1,200 Hernandez jersey’s and the most popular replacements were Wilfork, Brady, Jones and Ridley.
TMZ spoke with a few people who waited on line to turn in their jerseys … a few of whom had bought the jerseys for their kids and wanted to exchange the AH ones for players who were “a better role model.”
