Happy July 1st! Free agency frenzy has officially begun! We already heard over the weekend that CP3 was staying with the Clippers and now details of the deal have emerged. So how long & how much is the contract extension worth? Details after the jump…
Via Ramona Shelburne at ESPN:
Chris Paul is expected to verbally agree to a five-year, $107 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers shortly after the team is able to officially offer it to him, beginning at 12:01 a.m. ET Monday morning, sources have told ESPN.
Paul’s decision to stay with the Clippers is hardly a surprise. The only suspense remaining is when and how he will officially accept. Paul cannot sign his new contract until July 10th but he can agree to terms before then.
…
Paul will become the second high-profile player to sign a long-term extension with the Clippers in the last two seasons. Blake Griffin signed a five-year, $95 million extension last summer.
