Yankees fan, Alex Rodriguez has joined Twitter! Technically he joined at the end of May, but it wasn’t an official account (with the blue check) until yesterday. He’s not following anyone yet and has less than 20K followers (at the time of writing this).

Twitter is an amazingly great way to connect with people, whether it be friends or family or your favorite bloggers or whoever. It is also the deepest depths of Internet hell, with trolls and spambots aplenty. Alex Rodriguez, embattled Yankees third baseman, has officially taken the plunge.
If you’re unfamiliar with Twitter, that little blue checkmark means the account has been verified. The wonderful people at Twitter world headquarters have confirmed that it is indeed A-Rod’s account. If that’s not enough proof, you can click through for photos of him with his daughter and during his rehab from hip surgery.
For Alex’s sake, I hope he doesn’t take the time to read the @ replies from fans. Fair or not, pretty much no one likes the guy and a whole bunch of people have taken the time to let him know.
