Tanya Kach was taken away when she was 14-years-old, and she was missing for 10 years. She finally managed to escape from her school security guard in 2006, who held her captive all those years. Kach was held against her will for four years during the time of her prom back in 2000.
Kach’s fiance, 42-year-old Karl McCrum, heard on a radio show about a “second chance prom” for people who never got to go or had a bad experience at prom. The radio show gave them tickets to go, but there were not enough participants for the prom to be held. However, this year “second chance prom” happened, and it was held aboard the Gateway Clipper Fleet at Station Square in Pittsburgh, where Kach and McCrum were prom dates.
Tanya Kach had this to say about being in the headlines recently, “Every time I’ve been on the news, it’s always been something bad. This is a good story to cover finally so people can see that I’m moving on with my life. I’m trying to turn a negative into a positive.”
