7-Eleven stores in New York and Virgina were seized by Federal authorities on Monday. But why did the Feds step in?
7-Eleven has around 5,600 franchise stores, and 14 of them were seized due to the result of a federal investigation. Four stores in Virginia and ten stores in New York were seized because they employed undocumented workers. Workers were from Pakistan, and they stole identities from children and the deceased. These 7-Eleven’s apparently forced the workers to work 100-hour weeks for lower wages.
40 other 7-Eleven’s including locations in Florida, Maryland, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey are also under investigation.
