Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova have been rivals on the court for many years. Williams recently defeated Sharapova for the French Open title and now things between the two are heating up more than ever. Read more after the jump.
In a recent controversial Rolling Stone interview, Serena discussed the Steubenville rape case and her comments ruffled many feathers but it turns out that topic wasn’t the only thing that caused a firestorm. Williams also ripped Sharapova (she didn’t mention Maria by name, but the interviewer assumed it was her) by saying, “She’s still not going to be invited to the cool parties. And, hey, if she wants to be with the guy with a black heart — go for it.”
FYI — Maria is dating one of Serena’s rumored exes.
In a pre Wimbledon press conference Sharapova used the opportunity to counterattack. She said Serena should discuss the many things going on in her life for example the man she’s dating that’s married and getting divorced.
Serena is rumored to be dating her tennis coach (who is possibly still married).
