Gene Wilder famously portrayed Willy Wonka in the classic movie, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Wilder, who is pretty low key now-a-days, made a rare public appearance on Thursday and SLAMMED the 2005 remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I agree with Wilder’s words, some movies should just be left alone and Willy Wonka was one of them! Read what Gene had to say below.
The 80-year-old actor said that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is “an insult,” before adding, “It’s probably Warner Bros.’ insult.” When asked about how he feels about how he feels about Johnny Deep who took on his role in the remake Wilder said, “Johnny Depp, I think, is a good actor, but I don’t care for that director. He’s a talented man, but I don’t care for him doing stuff like he did.”
