Congrats to our guy Patrick Ewing! He’s reuniting with his “Dream Team” teammate Michael Jordan. Former New York Knicks great Patrick Ewing has reached an agreement to become an assistant head coach with the Charlotte Bobcats. Details after the jump…
Via ESPN:
Ewing will coach under longtime friend and first-year head coach Steve Clifford. He will also be working for friend and former rival Michael Jordan, who owns the Bobcats.
Ewing will serve as the associate head coach for the Bobcats, a league source confirmed.
The Hall of Fame center did not coach this season. He coached as an assistant the previous eight seasons in Orlando and Houston.
Ewing worked with Clifford on each staff.
Yahoo! Sports reported Ewing’s agreement with Charlotte earlier Tuesday.
Ewing interviewed for the Bobcats and Detroit Pistons head coaching jobs last summer and still has a desire to become a head coach, according to a league source.
Ewing turned down an offer from the Knicks last summer to coach their D-League team, the Erie BayHawks. A source close to Ewing said at the time that he felt disrespected by the offer.
