This morning began the long awaited trial for George Zimmerman, in regards to the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin back in February of 2012. Tracy Martin, Trayvon’s father spoke about what he expects throughout these proceeding (video after the jump) and the family released a statement:
“We are relieved that the trial is starting today with the selection of jury members. We are seeking justice for our son and a fair trial. Trayvon’s life was taken unnecessarily and tragically, but we call upon the community to be peaceful. We have placed our faith in the justice system and ask that the community do the same. Please pray for Trayvon and for our family.”
Currently, jury selection is in progress. Let’s just hope that at the end of this six weeks, justice would have prevailed. Drop down bottom for more details.
Of course during this process, Robert Zimmerman Jr. has had his say-so, and it’s no different for today. Zimmerman Jr. took the stand this morning to speak about how he would like the jury to perceive his brother, and the perjury of George’s wife. I wish both Zimmerman brothers a life behind bars. That’s just ME!
