According to Chinese authorities, 59-year-old Chen Shuizong left a suicide note behind before boarding, and setting fire to the commuter bus in the country’s eastern coastal city of Xiamen, killing 47 people–including himself.
The official Xinhua news agency says he was “unhappy and pessimistic about his life, and planned the arson to vent personal grievances.”
