Despite Plaxico Burress’ stint away from football and his subsequent somewhat lackluster return, he still believes he can do what made him a standout with the Giants and in his first stint with the Steelers. Read more after the jump.
“I know I can still play, I know I can dominate in the red zone,” Burress said, via Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “Just go out and play at a high percentage. In those one-on-one opportunities, just succeed at a high rate. I know I can. Being out there last year, I drew double coverage in the red zone without hardly playing, I think teams will have to respect that.”
He didn’t do much in his brief cameo with the Steelers last season; he caught three passes in four games, including a touchdown in the season finale against the Chiefs. He did however catch eight touchdowns in his one year with the New York Jets, tying for the team’s lead.
He’ll have another chance to show his ability with the Steelers in the upcoming football season and says he considers himself “blessed”.
