After the Nets were knocked out of the playoffs by the Bulls in the first round, they let go of interim coach P.J. Carlesimo and started their new coach search. Phil Jackson said no, the Celtics refused to give permission to talk to Doc Rivers. They are hoping they won’t get a third strike and then be really scrambling for a coach. Reports have surfaced that they have spoken with former NBA coach and current ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy. I think it would be a great hire. Van Gundy has proven he can handle coaching superstar players, even though I am not sure right now if Deron Williams is considered a superstar. He would have no problem handling the spotlight and the media pressure that comes from being in New York. The Nets in my opinion also need to upgrade their roster, because the team they have now will never come close to winning a championship. Hopefully it will work out for them and Van Gundy. It is always nice to know you have a coach who ain’t scared to jump in a fight, lol. Check the videos after the jump.
