The city of Philly recently held a job fair for ex-offenders, allowing them to help find work that will not turn them down due to their past convictions. However, there was a shocking turnout at the event, forcing the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Everett Gilison, to shut down the job fair. Click the jump to find out the rest of the story!
The turnout of the event was one for the records. The city was expecting approximately 1,000 people to be in attendance. However, when a crowd of 3,000+ people showed up at the job fair, the organizers of the event were overwhelmed. According to sources, everything was running smoothly until someone cut the line and then all mayhem broke loose. There were 25 employers at the job fair with hopes of assisting the ex-offenders in their job search. They, too, were disappointed when the event came to an early halt. Apparently when they held the same job fair last year, out of 1,000 people, 435 people got jobs. Gilison says that the maximum number of resumes were accepted during this job fair but that he plans to schedule another one soon that can handle a larger capacity of people.
