Damn, I thought this was done already…esp. since McNabb already has a new gig co-hosting an NBC Sports Radio show with Mark Malone.
After a year out of the league, Donovan McNabb is calling it a career.
Details after the jump…
Via USAToday:
Donovan McNabb attempted to play for a team in 2012 but found no takers. He then began his career as an NFL analyst without announcing his retirement from his playing days.
McNabb plans to change that this fall by retiring as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, who drafted him second overall in 1999.
“I will retire as an Eagle,” McNabb said during an interview with ESPN Radio in Syracuse on Monday, per Syracuse.com, “and I look forward to that opportunity and that day.”
The Eagles aren’t confirming the details of when the ceremonial retirement will occur, but McNabb said it likely will happen in September, perhaps in Week 3 when Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs are in town.
