A Talking Points Memo, confirmed that Shabazz was beaten during a robbery and later died of the injuries he sustained, on his way to the hospital.
Apparently, Shabazz was following in his grandfather’s footsteps of promoting social justice. Juan Ruiz, a member of the California-based labor organization Rumec, said that Shabazz was there to support Miguel Suarez a man who had been deported from the United States last month.
Shabazz, was the son of Qubilah Shabazz the second oldest daughter of Malcolm X, who was arrested for attempting to kill Louis Farrakhan. He lived in between France, New York and California. At 12 years old, when he was staying with his grandmother Betty Shabazz, her house caught on fire later killing her. He later plead guilty to setting the house on fire.
During the trial, Shabazz was described as a paranoid schizophrenic with psychotic episodes.
In 2011, in an interview Shabazz refused to discuss the fire saying he was coerced into setting the fire.
Shabazz is survived by his mother and two daughters.
