The Sony wants to market the new PlayStation 4 console as a total consumer experience and not just as a game console. Sony Computer Entertainment business department claims the device will be oriented to all types of consumers and will offer sophisticated non-gaming capabilities. “In terms of the ‘war for the living room’, we have no intention of abandoning that approach. After all, Sony is a company that has a long history of making audio-visual products that are designed for the living room, so this is a natural course for us. If anything it’s the other companies that have changed course by moving into this space,” Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios said. The company didn’t go into details on what the non gaming aspects of the console is but should reveal all during the Electronic Entertainment Expo trade-show in June.
